CFW is calling for expressions of interest to recruit a coordinator for the project ‘Deconfining arts, culture and policies in Europe and Africa’.

The project aims to create new equal cultural ties between Europe and Africa by developing a model of sustainable reference cooperation which can then be extended to other regions of the world.

Building on the close collaboration between the two continents and the integration of their Capitals of Culture programmes, the project will bring together cultural practitioners, policymakers, performing artists, media/visual artists, universities and audiences from both continents to explore and demonstrate new ways of intercontinental artistic and cultural (political) cooperation and to contribute to a better understanding of confinement patterns from different points of view with an intercontinental perspective. All this with the aim of freeing oneself from paternalistic and colonialist visions in favour of a strong participatory attitude and offering better access and better information for intercontinental mobility and transnational co-creation. This project has obtained a grant from the Creative Europe Programme.

As part of his/her duties, the coordinator is notably entrusted with the following responsibilities:

Coordination of project implementation.

Help design the implementation and monitoring plan. Ensure the execution of activities and the production of deliverables.
Represent the project.
Monitor the progress of activities with consultants.
Ensure the communication and visibility of the project.
Develop and produce narrative and financial reports.

Skills and qualifications:

Excellent knowledge of the cultural and creative sector in the region.
At least 5 years of professional experience in leading/participating in European projects.
Fluency in French and English.
Excellent synthesis and writing skills.
Communication and coordination skills.

Salary: 1200 EUR. Contract duration: 24 months.

Why a professional development workshop on cultural mobility?

On the Move is the international information network dedicated to artistic and cultural mobility, currently gathering 66 members from 24 countries. Co-funded by the European Union, On the Move aims to support all cultural mobility stakeholders to build responsiveness to global interdependencies and challenges, including social and societal ones.

As part of its multiannual programme, each year On the Move proposes a workshop for cultural mobility developers. The aim is to build the capacity of artists and cultural professionals to support the internationalisation of artistic and cultural practices and adopt more value-driven approaches. Each workshop is an opportunity to share knowledge and know-how in relation to working internationally, as well as to equip cultural developers to support the artistic, economic and cooperative growth of their community in their own context. The training is designed to provide context and insights into trends and opportunities related to international cultural mobility, as well as tools to continue to train other artists and culture professionals in their respective contexts. The two-day professional development programme will follow with the online publication of the Cultural Mobility Funding Guide dedicated to the South Mediterranean region.

Focus 2023: the South Mediterranean region

For the second edition of this workshop for cultural mobility developers, On the Move is collaborating with Culture Funding Watch and focusing on the South Mediterranean countries, namely: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Malta, Italy (Sicily, Lampedusa, Pelagie Islands), Spain (Ceuta, Melilla).

Having a more fragile cultural infrastructure, and still today facing an unequal distribution of resources, these Mediterranean contexts have more limited access to regular professional development and mentoring programmes that embed a strong international dimension. Even when such capacity building schemes exist, research underlines that opportunities for cultural mobility funding opportunities, and information about them, are extremely limited.

The workshop will be facilitated by Maria Daïf (independent consultant in cultural management, Morocco), Toni Attard (Culture Venture, Malta) together with Yohann Floch (On the Move), and Ouafa Belgacem (Culture Funding Watch).

On the Move expects that this two-day workshop will contribute to a better circulation of knowledge and expertise, increase access to existing resources, and empower the participating professionals and related entities/communities to delve further into artistic mobility and international opportunities.

The organisers’ intention is also to highlight and benefit from the experience of the participants and create the conditions for a dynamic and inspiring exchange within the group, with each individual sharing their valuable expertise in relation to topics including intra-regional mobility.

10 selected participants, 10 dissemination grants

Alongside the two-day workshop taking place in Tunisia, On the Move is offering a 750 EUR grant for each participant to translate their key learnings and takeaways into action. The purpose of this financial support is to give participants the opportunity to disseminate the knowledge and tools they have gained to a wider community of artists and cultural professionals in their own context.

Participants will be able to use their grant for local dissemination events (e.g. online and on-site panel discussions), publication costs (e.g. translation of existing documentation, commissioning of texts in languages other than English), or participation in public events to share results (e.g. travelling to conferences in the region).

Resources Mobilisation Digithon – MENA Edition (Online)

Organised by Culture Funding Watch, the RM Digithon Mena Edition will be a two-day programme of online meetings designed to connect CCI supporters and CCI operators, taking place 22-23 September 2022.

If you’re an artist, a cultural actor, a non-profit organisation or an entrepreneur in the Cultural & Creative Industries, this is your chance to grow your network and meet your future supporter/funder. Register to join the largest meet-up of CCI funders and investors in the MENA region.

The deadline to apply with a project is 10 September, while the deadline for signing up as a participant is 20 September 2022.

RM Digithon ‘Virtual Meeting Marathon’

Creatives, artists and cultural practitioners around the world are invited to join the Resources Mobilisation Digithon, a 24 hours non stop virtual meeting marathon that will gather over 10,000 CC actors worldwide and CCI mentors, supporters, investors and grantmakers.

Registration is open for the event on 26 May 2021 and places are limited. Come and join the RMD and meet supporters/funders and investors of the arts from your country and abroad.

The event is a 24-hour online speed meeting between Culture and creative supporters and CC actors that aims at creating a space of reflection on existing funding and mobility mechanisms.

240 international donors and supporters will be invited to host a ‘table’, he/she will present the support programme offered, its objectives, and eligibility criteria. He/she will be surrounded by 7 attendees whom once the donor has finished his presentation will have a Q&A session. The round per table will take around 30min, donors and attendees will switch tables throughout the day.

Over the 24h non-stop speed dating around 10,000 attendees are expected for this event. The RMD is organised by CFW – Culture Funding Watch. CFW supports creatives and Culture practitioners and professionals and acts as an enabler and connector between Cultural & Creative actors and CCI investors/supporters.
