The Art Explora Foundation together with Cité internationale des arts co-construct a unique residency programme for French and international artists and researchers.

The programme invites candidates to propose a project that questions contemporary issues, including new technologies, the links between art and science, and environmental and social issues.

Two formats are proposed and are open to artists and researchers of all nationalities, without age limit. Eligible artists are those who can demonstrate a minimum of five years of professional activity.

SOLO Programme: for artists only. Two 6-month SOLO residency sessions each hosting 6 artists: March - August 2023 / September 2023 - February 2024. That is to say 12 artists hosted each year. The eligible artistic disciplines are: visual arts, performing arts, digital arts.

DUO Programme: for a collaboration between a researcher and an artist. For this programme, only one application on behalf of both members of the duo is required. Four 3-month DUO residency sessions will each host a duo: March - May 2023 / June - August 2023 / September - November 2023 / December 2023 - February 2024. That is to say 8 artists and researchers hosted each year. The eligible research fields are: humanities, social sciences, sciences, technological innovation, sustainable development, art criticism and curating.

Every resident will benefit from:

A live-in studio of about 50m2, equipped and furnished (shared in the DUO program).
A living allowance of 1000 euros per month (for each member of the duo, if applicable).
A production grant of up to 3000 euros, delivered upon proof and according to the specificities of the project (global envelope shared between the two members of the duo, if applicable).
A round trip to Paris paid for by the foundation (for each member of the duo, if applicable).

Cité internationale des arts: Coordinateur.trice chargé.e du lien avec les résidents et les souscripteurs (France)

Le poste de coordinateur.trice chargé.e du lien avec les résidents et les souscripteurs est rattaché au service des résidences, qui se compose d’un pôle programmes de résidences, d’un pôle programmation culturelle et d’un pôle accueil. Le pôle programmes de résidences est en charge du développement, du suivi et de la mise en œuvre des programmes de résidences et du lien avec les artistes. L’équipe de ce pôle est composée de 4 personnes.

Les souscripteurs sont des personnes physiques ou morales, de droit public ou de droit privé, qui ont effectué une donation à la Cité internationale des arts depuis sa création, en contrepartie d’un droit de présentation d’artistes pour l’occupation d’un ou plusieurs atelier(s)-logements(s). A ce jour, la Cité compte environ 115 souscripteurs actifs, du monde entier. Les plus importants souscripteurs de la Cité, en nombre d’ateliers-logements, sont l’Institut Français, le CNSMDP, la Fondation Finlandaise de la Cité des Arts de Paris, la Ville de Paris et l’Académie d’architecture.

Au sein du service résidences / pôle programmes de résidences, le/la coordinateur.trice chargé.e du lien avec les résidents & les souscripteurs a pour missions :
Être l’interlocuteur.trice privilégié.e des souscripteurs aux côtés de la Chargée des programmes de résidence et des partenariats.
Coordonner les programmes de résidence coconstruits avec les souscripteurs de la Cité internationale des arts : maintenir et suivre au quotidien le lien avec les 115 souscripteurs actifs, gérer les plannings, traiter les dossiers des artistes proposés, puis sélectionnés.
Organiser l’arrivée en résidence des artistes ; et transmettre les informations aux différents services concernés.
Faire le lien avec les artistes en résidence (réponse aux questions des artistes avant leur arrivée, et après leur arrivée si besoin, en lien avec les autres services concernés).
Gérer les demandes des artistes souhaitant venir en résidence.

Rémunération selon grille de salaire et experience. Prise de poste : 1er juillet 2022.

European Investment Bank Institute: Artists Development Programme (France)

The European Investment Bank (EIB) Institute is pleased to announce the 2022 edition of its Artists Development Programme (ADP) in collaboration with Cité internationale des arts (Paris), for which it is looking for two visual artists (born after 1 January 1987) from Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Luxembourg, Portugal or Romania.

The ADP offers emerging European visual artists a three-month residency at Cité internationale des arts in Paris, enabling them to develop their practice and create a new (body of) work(s), boosted by the mentorship of a renowned artist. In 2022, the recipients will be mentored by acclaimed Franco-Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé.

Eligibility criteria

Born after 1 January 1987 (in the case of an artist duo, both members must be aged 35 or under).
Nationals of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Luxembourg, Portugal or Romania
(in the case of an artist duo, both members must be a national of one of these countries).
Fluency in English.

Budget and duration

The residency in Paris will take place from 2 September until 28 November 2022.
The EIB Institute will cover the artists’ travel costs to and from Paris (for the residency).
The artists will receive an €80 (eighty euro) flat-rate daily allowance to cover their living costs during the residency and all or part of the production costs, and will be provided with a living/working space.
In addition to the above, the artists will be granted a contribution towards production of €500 at the beginning of the residency and a success fee of €1000 at the end of the residency, provided that they have produced a work or body of works.
Upon completion of the residency, the EIB may consider acquiring an artwork produced on-site by the artists.

The ‘Centre national de la danse x Cité internationale des arts Residency’ is dedicated to choreographers or curators/programmers of performing arts residing outside French territories.

The purpose of this residency is to promote mobility and expand artistic and professional networks. For choreographers, it is an opportunity to be promote their work in France and nourish the research. Young professionals already engaged in an artistic consulting function will be able to observe the French operating modes and experience the French scene.

With this programme, the Centre national de la danse and the Cité internationale des arts commit themselves to support the laureate’s project by offering him/her a special support and a three-month residency in Paris and Pantin from 2 May – 29 July 2022.

The programme includes:

A three-month artistic residency at the Cité internationale des arts, in a studio with a workplace and a furnished living space (bedroom, shower, kitchen, wifi), located in the heart of Paris.
Studio time at the Centre national de la danse at Pantin, located North-Est of Paris.
A free access to Camping event workshops (13-24 June, 2022).
International transportation to and from Paris with a Visa and travel insurance.
A grant for living expenses: 1000 euros /mouth.
A production grant: 1500 euros (only for the choreographer, does not concern the curator).
A presentation event, to be defined according to the laureate’s project (only for the choreographer, does not concern the curator).

Applicants must not be French or resident in France, should be between 25-35 years old on the application deadline (6 February 2022), and should be able to provide proof of professional artistic activity for at least three years. The choreographer should have already created one or several choreographic projects.

The MEP – Collection Gervanne + Matthias Leridon Collection - Cité internationale des arts Residency is a new residency programme for emerging artists, dedicated to African photography, created by Gervanne and Matthias Leridon in collaboration with the MEP and the Cité internationale des arts.

The purpose of this residency is to support young African artists and to highlight practices that explore new forms of photography. The aim is also to promote artists’ mobility to enable them to share their work and expand their artistic and professional networks.

With this programme, the Collection Gervanne + Matthias Leridon and its partners commit themselves to support the laureate’s project by offering him/her a special support and a three-month residency in the heart of Paris.

Benefits

A three-month artistic residency, from 3 January – 28 March 2022, at the Cité internationale des arts, in a studio with a work-place and a furnished living-place (bedroom, shower, kitchen, wifi), located in the heart of Paris, and near the MEP.
A specific artistic and professional accompaniment: access to the networks and documentary resources of the three partners.

Financial support

Cité internationale des arts: Appel à candidatures pour soutenir les artistes francophones, TRAME (France)

TRAME est un programme de résidences à destination d’artistes francophones du monde qui souhaitent développer un projet de recherche et de création dans toutes les disciplines à Paris, pendant une durée de trois mois. Chaque année, dix lauréats sont sélectionnés.

Ce programme de résidences propose un accompagnement sur mesure, des rencontres mensuelles et des entretiens individuels avec des artistes et des professionnels de la culture. Il s’ancre également au coeur de la vie, des activités et des réseaux de la Cité internationale des arts et de ses 325 résidents de toutes disciplines, de toutes générations et de toutes les nationalités.

Le programme TRAME s’inscrit dans les nouvelles actions menées depuis 2019 par la Cité internationale des arts, désignée pôle de référence de la création francophone par le Ministère de la Culture aux côtés de La Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon – Centre national des écritures du spectacle et Les Francophonies – Des écritures à la scène à Limoges.
Il bénéficie du soutien du Ministère de la Culture.

TRAME est un programme de résidences qui s’adresse à des artistes de toutes nationalités, dont les artistes français. Il est ouvert à toutes les disciplines artistiques, sans limite d’âge.

Le programme comprend :

Un accompagnement individuel au projet ;
Des sessions collectives d’échanges et de rencontres avec des professionnels ;
Un atelier-logement sur le site du Marais de la Cité internationale des arts ;
Une bourse de 800 euros par mois ;
Le transport aller-retour à destination de Paris (sous réserve du respect d’un certain plafond).

Les résidents sont accueillis dans des ateliers-logements comportant un espace meublé de travail et de vie et disposant du wifi.

Les lauréats, réunis autour d’une francophonie commune, bénéficieront d’un accompagnement sur mesure dispensé par la Cité internationale des arts et son réseau de partenaires, en phase avec l’actualité de la création contemporaine.

La Cité internationale des arts est une résidence d’artistes qui rassemble, au cœur de Paris, des créateurs.trices et qui leur permet de mettre en œuvre un projet de production ou de recherche dans toutes les disciplines.
Sur des périodes de deux mois à un an, la Cité internationale des arts offre un environnement favorable à la création, ouvert aux rencontres avec des professionnel.les du milieu culturel. Les résident.es bénéficient d’un accompagnement sur mesure de la part de l’équipe de la Cité internationale des arts.

Dans le cadre du nouveau projet d’établissement, la Cité internationale des arts initie depuis 2017 une refondation de la relation avec les 135 partenaires historiques (souscripteurs) de l’institution. Elle construit également de nouveaux programmes de résidence sur-mesure en collaboration avec des partenaires prescripteurs souhaitant soutenir les talents de la scène artistique nationale et internationale.

Le/la Chargé.e des programmes de résidence et des partenariats est en charge de la poursuite et du développement de ces deux axes de travail.

Le poste est rattaché au service des résidences, plus précisément au sein du pôle programmes de résidence, composé de 4 personnes avec lesquelles vous serez amené.e à travailler en étroite collaboration. La Cité internationale des arts est une Fondation reconnue d’utilité publique, qui accueille en résidence des artistes de toutes disciplines et de toutes nationalités, dans 325 ateliers-logements répartis sur deux sites (Marais et Montmartre), pour des durées de deux mois à un an. 30 % des résidences font l’objet de sélections à travers différents programmes sur mesure avec un accompagnement dédié (Trame, programmes co-construits avec Art Explora, le Centre national des arts plastiques, la Fondation Daniel et Nina Carasso, par exemple). 70% des résidences sont souscrites par des opérateurs étrangers et français qui sélectionnent les résidents selon des modalités définies conjointement avec la Cité internationale des arts.

En tant que centre de résidence, la Cité internationale des arts accompagne et diffuse le travail des artistes qu’elle accueille. Elle met aussi en œuvre de nombreux projets en partenariat et développe ainsi une programmation culturelle pluridisciplinaire (expositions, débats d’idées, projections, concerts, etc.) avec des artistes, auteur·trice·s et commissaires d’exposition résidents et/ou invités. Ces événements se déploient dans plusieurs espaces sur les deux sites (Marais et Montmartre) et hors les murs : quatre espaces d’exposition (dont une Galerie de 525 m2), un auditorium (128 places), des espaces extérieurs pouvant également être exploités pour des événements artistiques. La programmation se développe également de façon dématérialisée, en ligne, sous des formats variés : rencontres, interviews, etc.

Le·la Responsable de la programmation culturelle est chargé·e de la conception globale de la programmation et de la mise en œuvre des événements, en phase avec le projet d’établissement et la mission de la Cité internationale des arts. La programmation doit à la fois être le reflet de la variété des pratiques et des profils d’artistes accueillis en résidence, tout en donnant à voir les axes stratégiques de l’établissement.
Les événements sont souvent l’objet de partenariats et s’inscrivent dans un contexte local, national ou international (Saison Africa 2020, Nuit Blanche, Biennale de Venise, partenariat avec Le Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains etc.).
